the PAC
A statewide network of criminal defense lawyers dedicated to mentorship, collaboration, and success. Join SCACDL & Strengthen the Defense Bar
In 1992, a group of powerhouse criminal defense lawyers, led by the legendary Reese I. Joye, came together with a bold mission: to create an organization that would unify and empower South Carolina’s criminal defense community.
With just 40 members locked in a room (literally—no one left until they wrote a check), SCACDL was born. Since then, our ranks have grown to over 600 defense attorneys, shaping the future of criminal law through groundbreaking education, tireless advocacy, and unwavering support for our members.
From the launch of the Richard Scott Joye Memorial Trial College to the formation of our PAC, SCACDL has become the leading voice for criminal defense in South Carolina—ensuring no lawyer stands alone in the fight for justice.
SCACDL membership connects you with top criminal defense professionals, cutting-edge training, and a network that has your back—every case, every courtroom, every day.
